Tourmilated Black Quartz Earrings
I just finished these custom earrings for a dear client. She had found some tourmilated black quartz daggers at a hippie shop and sent them to me to do my magic. I wire wrapped them onto sterling silver and strung some chain pairing the black quartz with clear quartz and Swarovski crystals. I love them! The cool part is that they double as mini pendulums.
Pendulums have long been used as both healing and predicting tools. It is a property of quartz to be able to store and receive energy so when you hold it over your palm or certain parts of your body (chakra points) the quartz will begin to spin. Depending on the direction, and force of the movement of the quartz it can tell you certain things...cool!

Party like it's my birthday...
Wait it is my birthday! So I can party! But alas...there shall be no party. I rang in my b-day with some local BBQ and a Little Debbie Christmas tree cake lit with a tea-light candle. But it was special and it made me smile.
My mom, dad and hubby hooked me up with an iphone 4s so that I can accept credit cards at my jewelry shows and it is a truly awesome technology. I am still amazed at all it can do, and all I am learning about it. I told Siri it was my birthday and she said, "Happy Birthday." Then I said, "Thank you, we are going to be best friends." And she responded "You are entitled to your opinion." Then I called her the B word. She didn't like that.
It is pretty amazing, we are almost the Jetsons. I just need my flying car and a hairdo/wardrobe machine (that was always my favorite) and I am set.

Making it work...
I would like to think that sitting down and writing this would be easier for me. The younger me would have journaled for hours...never truly stopping to think what she was writing about, skipping between poetry, song, fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi etc. I wrote anything and everything. Be it improper grammer, misspellings, non-sense, I would do it for hours, never erasing, no white-out, no spellcheck, no green dashed lines beneath my words taunting me. As an adolescent, I was unaware at times at how to direct my anger or frustrations, so I would yell, journal and power-up*. A bit older and wiser now without the miriade of emotions running through my mind, I am more cautious, more second guessing, more doubting maybe.
But I miss that part of me that didn't have to second guess or meticulously hash things out. I wanted to write a blog but analysis paralysis and it took me a month of thinking. But I do miss my ability to journal and write without having to think, coming up with beautiful words and wonderful worlds with every stroke of my pen. My keyboard is not as forgiving. Any how I try, and then I am reminding that trying and doing are two completely different verbs.
*Power-up is in reference to when super-heros change into their alter ego and crouch down and shake with rage...lol...
